What you'll need
- Search for and select your record on the opt-out search (no listing URL needed)
- Email address for a verification link
- No account, membership or payment required
- Online form removes ONE record per person; extra records need an email to [email protected]
Step by step
- Go to https://www.beenverified.com/app/optout/search (footer link 'Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information'; it redirects to /svc/optout/search/).
- Search your name (and state) and select the record that is you.
- Enter your email address and submit; BeenVerified sends a verification email.
- Click the link in the verification email to confirm.
- Wait for a second email confirming the record has been opted out.
- After about 24 hours, search again with the opt-out search to confirm; clear your browser history/cache if it still shows.
Tips and gotchas
- The online form removes only one record. For multiple records, email [email protected].
- The opt-out covers People Search results only; your name may still appear in other BeenVerified search types.
- Sister brands under The Lifetime Value Co. (PeopleLooker, Ownerly) each have their own 'Do Not Sell' opt-out page (peoplelooker.com/app/optout/search, ownerly.com/app/optout/search/). Whether one opt-out carries over to the others is unconfirmed, so submit on each.
- PeopleLooker's FAQ similarly warns that different information about you may appear later 'because it can't conclusively be associated with the information you previously opted out'.
- International (non-US) requests go by email to [email protected].
Will it stay removed?
BeenVerified says new records can appear when a data partner sends a record 'different enough from your existing record ... that we cannot match' it (different spellings, initials, addresses), creating a separate record. If that happens after opting out, contact [email protected] to remove it. Your name may also still appear in BeenVerified's other search services (e.g. phone/address searches) after a People Search opt-out.
